How to Be Comfortable with Discomfort | 5 Simple (But Not Easy) Steps

Most women I talk to struggle with making other people uncomfortable OR being uncomfortable themselves.

Can you relate?

I know I give off an air of being confident, capable and pretty on top of my game (because I’ve asked and that’s what people say.) It’s mostly true these days, but this definitely wasn’t always the case…

Rewind to my late twenties. I’m in the back of a car with my best friend (and employer.)

Tears are streaming down her face as we sit there in silence.

I’ve just told her I don’t want to work together anymore and I need a break from our relationship. Her sadness, confusion and anger is palpable and understandable. My whole body feels like it’s on fire, from the soles of my feet to the scalp on my head. I am the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been in my life and in intense pain.

A huge part of me wants to take it all back, make it good again and stop both of our anguish. Yet I know, in my heart of hearts that we can’t keep triggering each other’s wounds, over and over again.
I have to change something, put up a healthy boundary, for both of our sakes.

Since then I have truly come to know that if a choice is your truth and what you need, it’s ultimately serving the other person as well. Even when it doesn’t feel that way.

I’ve come a loooong way since then! And now I’m honored and totally thrilled to share my most potent steps to being comfortable with discomfort with you in this video!

PPS. If you hear some squeals in the background of the video, that’s Phoenix waking up too soon from his nap as I was recording. Listening to your baby crying is hard as eff, so it’s either proof in action that I am good at being comfortable with discomfort OR that I’m a hard a$$ bitch not responding to my child crying. You decide…
